CHAPTER NINETEEN
It's easy to make a move to quickly. Verse 2 says enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; hast makes mistakes. You will make many decisions in life. So you might as well take your time. Making a fast decision that ends up being the wrong one will cost you more time than you want to give. People hurry into all kinds of things (marriage, jobs, drugs, alcohol, etc..), never thinking about the long term consequences. It's never about the moment, there is always more at stake. Even salvation isn't about the moment, it's about eternity. Believe it or not, everyday people make a quick decision to follow Christ because they are swept up in emotion. Following Christ is not for the faint at heart. If you don't take it seriously, the people you know won't either. We need to be enthusiastic about our faith, but more than that we need to be informed and led by the Holy Spirit. If you have ever played a strategy game, you understand that every move you make counts. Life is one big strategy game. If you don't think about what you are doing you will be set back. The trump card however is Christ. No matter what we face, no matter what the odds are, Jesus defeated death so in Jesus you can conquer life.
So if every decision is well thought out and calculated, where is the faith? If you are on a path that you know is the right path and it has hurdles, do you quit? NO!! You enthusiastically run to the finish line. But in between the finish and the beginning, their will be several leaps of faith. God will help you land on your feet again, you just keep running. You can and will finish, and you will impact people around you. Stay enthusiastic, but be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The whole thing about strategy reminds me of chess && Life.
Like a good example would be me. I looooove to go tubing, but I'm afraid that if I do it very much anymore, I will have no knees when I'm 30. My knees already suck. It's kind of like in chess. You get ecstatic because you see a move where you can take out a piece like the queen or something, but a couple moves later, that very move that you chose to make on a whim without observing the angles && options/consequnces causes you to lose the game. I used to do that a lot until I started playing with my dad. He taught to plan out a move before you make it and look at everything that can get you and everything it can cause to happen to you and THEN make a decision when you have a plan that weighs more heavily on the pros than cons. And that's a lot like Life. Step back and take your time, look at what the gains and consequnces are of your "move" BEFORE you make it.
Huh, know that I really think about it, chess can teach you a LOT about Life, you just have to be open-minded && deep (or random) enough to find what it has to say. It's that way with a lot of things. I once learned something about Life from an elevator. I don't remember what, but I do remember I was taught by an elevator. =P
Good job. Very nice message. Makes me think deep thoughts. =]
